Sp/5 Ernest L. Rogers 1967

Sp/5 Ernest L. Rogers, who went by his middle name, Leamon, was from London, Kentcky. He completed basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky in 1965. His first assignment was at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He remained there until receiving PCS orders to Thailand in October 1966.

Upon his arrival in Thailand he was assigned to C Company, 538th Engineer Battalion which was located at Camp Sungwien, high in the Korat mountains. His MOS was 51B20, Carpentry and Masonry Specialist.

In October 1967 Leamon departed Thailand and returned to the United States with orders for his ETS. After leaving the Army, he worked for a while at an auto assembly plant in Ohio. In 1968 he moved to Indiana where he began to work in concrete and eventually started his own business. In 1973 he moved his small lightweight concrete pouring business to Louisville, Kentucky, where he worked until he passed away in 13 April 1985.
